Housed at the South Perth Library, the local history collection contains books, photographs, aerial maps, cartographic material, oral history interviews, objects, artworks, ephemera and local newspapers.

An oral history program commenced in 1988 with bicentennial funding and continues today. The memories of many local pioneers are captured on CD and cassette.

A comprehensive history of the municipality, Peninsular City: A social history of the City of South Perth, is available for purchase.

Local History material can be searched for using the library catalogue and appointments can be made to view materials held in the archives and compactus.

For information about how the collection is managed, see the Local History Collection Standards.

Oral Histories

Oral history interview recordings are now available for loan through the South Perth and Manning Libraries. Many of them can also be accessed online through the South Perth Stories website.
